Bet'r l8 > nvr

I agree this reading was tough, but here is my take:

Drucker's main claims are:

1. Typographic experimental writing expresses cross-disciplinary approaches to representational form of artistic practices. an artist should be able to apply multiple forms of art into a work that is easily understood by its audiences
2. Relationships between form and expression; and between matter and content need to exist on equal stature
the artwork should provide a clear understanding without any in-depth interpretation: The art work needs to present it self individually as a whole image that has no interpretation of the real world
3. Artistic forms are to be and not to represent exactly what this states an object is that object, not re-represent the object(idea, etc) to give it hidden or interpretive meanings. It's an image of it's own making
4. Absolute purity of poetry will come from spatial and manipulation of poetic text breaking the standard structure of poetic structure will allow the text to explain in correspondence to the placement of the text the page
5. The interpretation of the effects of spatial and manipulation of the text remains resistant to any closure and the complexity adds material means to its own language mentioned above #4
6. Poetry must reject the habitual patterns of ordinary speech, and must embody essences that are emotion, sexual, and universal in nature and be presented in a visual form which reinforces the effect of their verbal qualities The new structure of text which would be used in a poem will be present or convey the readers in a desired direction
7. Features must demand a recognition that uses a figural visual mode
8. radical anti-grammatical effects the language arranged to make a form independent of the conventional structure if the writer is no longer using conventional styles of writing than the use of grammar in the text are useless
9. Ordered visual and verbal manifestations that creates a claim, rather than to serve to represent an already extent idea, form, thought, or thing.the way the text would organize and create or establish a claim  without explanation, the value will be taken as is.
10. The self conscious attention to the role of (verbal) the letter, the sound, the word, the sentence, the phrase and form; (visual) the color, the line, the form, the mass, the surface, the plane, composition, and spatial illusion or lack thereof the use of these roles within a text will let the audience be attentive to the use of space and text used
11. New emphasis on the focus of the materiality through which meaning an content are constructed the focus of the audience will construct the meaning, a clear and pure meaning.
12. Role of materiality is the revelation of representation of its truth Since the text and space are to be take at face value, it would be taken as truth.
13. Visual representations would be consider the truths in themselves rather than the mere naming them and pointing to them the representation will create a meaning on its own without pointing it out or telling
14. The image is not a substitute ; it does not stand fro anything than itself re-read this.
15. The relation between attention to the formal elements and properties of language articulate a motivation to produce either truth, meaning or effect in no case would signification be ignored an example....
"you           and             I               today are not like
what we were      yesterday                             " this should infer that two people have grown apart from each other since they were younger. The spacing and placement of the text should apply to the illusion of the meaning, giving content to both the visual and verbal aspects of poem. also notice the use of punctuation is not needed. I think this form of "new art" is hard to apply to literature well out without raising an eyebrow like "what the fuck?"
16. Terms of formality are literary; poetry must be self-conscious in defining itself: through direct treatment/minimal use of adjectives/a quality of hardness/individuality of rhythm/the use of exact words
17.the problematic relation with language which accompanies the development of a visual and making claims for its formal purity and visual autonomy
18. typographic work embodied and manifested a complex attitude toward the materiality of visual and verbal aspects of signification and continual interplay of reading and seeing social context and historical production with evidence in its materiality.

I think this reading has set some idea of what non-conventional forms of writing, at least for me, clearly. However, I doubt I completely got it, but fuck it I'll admit that poetry and writing are suppose to be rebellious...in form and context. what ever the artwork, it was created to express...writing does not have to appeal to the mass public, the appreciation may only come from it's creator. I am beginning to realize that there are fewer ways to express an existing meaning or idea verbally, but if distorting and displacement of the conventional structure may provide a new outlet.  As artist we have control over our art, we can present it in any form we desire and feel comfortable. dig'it?
