“Innovative practice has pioneered not only new media but also new ways of perceiving through a given medium, a practice that has localized art not as a way of representing but as a way of making.” (173).
Before I respond to the discuss I would like to use my blog to express some personal issues by clearing my empty head. I am not sure what problems are happening in my life not even sure if there are any; no one has given me any answers, nor have I really asked (or is it that I have not been asking the right questions?) When I wake up in the morning until I fall asleep in the morning I wonder why I generate absolutely no substance under the florescent-light. I blame my busy life for the lack of being who I am, or what I should be, how I should perceive myself and be perceived by others...but when I have the time will I continue to do nothing or be considered something? Some times I feel like I am only a mechanical figure for some function that doesn't exist. I have meaning, but my meaning will remain useless until the properties are made or discovered for me to function properly. I am not even sure how big of a part I am...or if I am already a whole and do not know how to function.
I have not expressed a single true emotion for years. years. everything comes out the same, everything is a joke and nothing matters because I have nothing to escape too. I lost my ability to write, I lost my ability to comprehend, I lost my ability to care, I lost my ability to love or have passion, I lost my fucking mind. All that's left in my head are clouds of dust and debris...my mind has been hit by terrorist. terrorist of media pop culture, terrorist of the corporate, terrorist of religious propaganda, terrorist of the creditors, terrorist of political propaganda, and even I am a terrorist to my own mind...
enough with the rambling and ranting and the searching and the bitching and the self denial and to the discussion post.

Innovative practice really applies only to the people who take the extra step to learn and experience new educational tools. The majority will carry on with the common or expected tools which are offered to them through-out life. New forms of media or mediums are (or at least were) rarely offered. I believe there are cultural changes which are occurring that will make code and interface a necessity to near future societies. It’s already happening, it has been for years, but not so much as it is in the youth or younger generations as it is now. Life is changing and I wish I lived in the 50s 60’s 70’s 80’s or 90s.
Computer technologies are advancing rapidly and are being introduced much faster to all public communities. Furthermore, newer generations are going to be introduced to advanced and sophisticated tools of what ever the pervious generations were not provided to them at the same age. So maybe I will never understand something of current culture as clearly as a thirteen year old kid only because I am not submerged into the same culture the kid. Simply I am trying to point out that these new mediums will replace the current forms of media and it’s mediums because others (standard forms) will become outdated. I am loaded with outdate forms of media…hell I am even considering buying an alarm clock. Who the frick needs those any more. I have this saying that goes “a fad doesn’t end until the last sheep dies.” meaning people who either live life stuck in an era or people who tend to not care for the current trends. Mainstream changes way to often...so often that most people can not benefit entirely from the current trend. everyone feeds into pop cultural if you don't...go blow you're brains out...it's all a matter of sub cultures and time frames. no one is as unique they assume. sorry, blog rant.
So how are these ‘new’ mediums changing our perceptions of understanding? Well it is similar to how a reader will interpret different writers from different periods or different modes and styles of writing of writing. Generally, if a person perceives something it means they are catching something others do not commonly grasp, so the importance to understand how new tools function and knowing the cultural impact they have is necessary. Without the tools there would be no reason or importance to understand them because they wouldn’t exist making no impact on society. The more we know about the specifics then the more attentive to detail we can be…However, how has perception changed? In essence it hasn’t because ‘perception’ is a word that is represented by a definition which has been ingrain into an existing language. The only changes are the stuff being presented and the ways which are taught to understand the material being used to create that stuff. An example would be if shown something brand new (unheard of , never before seen, a complete product of imagination) and are asked to explain what it is there are two ways this could be answered: 1) individual interpretation. Which explains nothing factual and it's complete utter bullshit because it is a single opinion. 2) being honest by saying: “I have no clue what I am looking at! What is it and how is it made and how does it work?” only then will a person begin to understand the concepts of the ’thing’ and will then be abel to recognize ‘things’ that share similarities.
Finally, how is this practice a way of making rather than form of representing? Simply because there are fewer references or none at all. It will present an artistic expression through means that are currently unavailable to most of society or incapable of functioning because they do not exist yet.
