short.

Don't Mess With the Wrong People

enjoy.

I forgot what to think about....do you remember? I think you do.

0) That I am hopelessly alone...no wait. The opening will be a clip from the film Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein: the scene where Dr. Frankenstein is trying to bring his creating life. I'll be using symbols to create & give life to an artwork. Shapes really have no solid value in our culture other than the shape itself. the meaning will be made by the individual spectator with the knowledge that the piece of art is creating life.

1) My art will be profound. no explanation. well sure it will be great to watch simple shapes create something more; not sure what just something.

2) I won't be using words (letters) I'll be using shapes for words. not sure what will come of it yet until I am working on the piece.

this is a reflection.

It's really hard to say what I learned making this animation other than trying to use flash in order to set an emotion with the image movement which goes along with the tone of the poem. I don't think I really challenged myself to push limits which I had tried in other projects which I have not posted; many with moving shapes. One thing I need to polish with animation is the size of the text. It's still very small. If I had more time I may have added more to the poem...a poem that I only revised twice barely putting much thought into the words. I just wrote it. Although adding more to the time line of this may have disrupted the mood by creating to much for the audience to follow. If I were to start over I would have had an entirely different project because a different idea would have taken over. blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah. I just had little time to sit down and really focus on a story.

wait, I am just catching up here...what? still I write about this. so it's true. no its verbal vomit. right. you make that choice. but listen to me I am the writer. hold my hand.

an innovated language finds ways to express or communicate itself through invention of novel semiotics to a wider range of inter-related audiences or cross audiences. This can be performed by mimicking or creating an identity while presenting it as an independent-self. through creating its own identity which is recognizable to it's audience. Unlike using or explaining stereotypes which exhibit a function of an idea to express similarities to the reader through utterance; these techniques of semiotics develop the sense of  identity in becoming and acting as that identity by forming a truth or an actuality. art language should have the ability to function independently through exaggeration of existing materials or in the contents of it's own creation by the formal and informal qualities which make up through the identifiable characteristics developed. This works as an art form because the language or interpreter  has becomes not the corresponding messenger between the viewer and art(ist) but as a figure that represents itself or its manifestation wholly. the importance of art to its community relies on the culture in it's own time and place in addition to the understanding of that time and place. it also depends on on technology and knowledge.  A vague knowledge at least is needed to understand an arts purpose in relation to itself as a sign and symbol or the existing surroundings which make the art identifiable. New art forms are, as i see it, either break familiar barriers or are unfamiliar to a single person (not to society). Either challenges the views of its audience. what can make the art great is the ability to generate a following and makes some difference even just to one person. furthermore, it expands knowledge and educational values.

think of comic humor. think of surrealism. think of cubism (sorta). think of acting. think of me eight feet taller gray with red hair with a blue monkey running across telephone pole made of straws and wires made of licorice playing tag.that makes little sense. rather I am myself thoroughly exhibiting myself as an Old German man in the context of what that old German man would be in our society from what I know of him.nothing. k bye.

improve my stuff.

I am going enlarge the text some how so it will be readable and change the motion path making them stay on the frame longer. I was surprised people thought this was peaceful...the imagery really changes the mood...

Steven vs New Perceptive...its just past 4am.

“Innovative practice has pioneered not only new media but also new ways of perceiving through a given medium, a practice that has localized art not as a way of representing but as a way of making.” (173).

Before I respond to the discuss I would like to use my blog to express some personal issues by clearing my empty head. I am not sure what problems are happening in my life not even sure if there are any; no one has given me any answers, nor have I really asked (or is it that I have not been asking the right questions?) When I wake up in the morning until I fall asleep in the morning I wonder why I generate absolutely no substance under the florescent-light. I blame my busy life for the lack of being who I am, or what I should be, how I should perceive myself and be perceived by others...but when I have the time will I continue to do nothing or be considered something? Some times I feel like I am only a mechanical figure for some function that doesn't exist. I have meaning, but my meaning will remain useless until the properties are made or discovered for me to function properly. I am not even sure how big of a part I am...or if I am already a whole and do not know how to function.

I have not expressed a single true emotion for years. years. everything comes out the same, everything is a joke and nothing matters because I have nothing to escape too. I lost my ability to write, I lost my ability to comprehend, I lost my ability to care, I lost my ability to love or have passion, I lost my fucking mind. All that's left in my head are clouds of dust and debris...my mind has been hit by terrorist. terrorist of media pop culture, terrorist of the corporate, terrorist of religious propaganda, terrorist of the creditors, terrorist of political propaganda, and even I am a terrorist to my own mind...

enough with the rambling and ranting and the searching and the bitching and the self denial and to the discussion post.

“Innovative practice has pioneered not only new media but also new ways of perceiving through a given medium, a practice that has localized art not as a way of representing but as a way of making.” (173).

Innovative practice really applies only to the people who take the extra step  to learn and experience new educational tools. The majority will carry on with the common or expected tools which are offered to them through-out life. New forms of media or mediums are (or at least were) rarely offered. I believe there are cultural changes which are occurring that will make code and interface a necessity to near future societies. It’s already happening, it has been for years, but not so much as it is in the youth or younger generations as it is now. Life is changing and I wish I lived in the 50s 60’s 70’s 80’s or 90s.
Computer technologies are advancing rapidly and are being introduced much faster to all public communities. Furthermore, newer generations are going to be introduced to advanced and sophisticated tools of what ever the pervious generations were not provided  to them at the same age. So maybe I will never understand  something of  current culture as clearly as a thirteen year old kid only because I am not submerged into the same culture the kid. Simply I am trying to point out that  these new mediums will replace the current forms of media and it’s mediums because others (standard forms) will become outdated. I am loaded with outdate forms of media…hell I am even considering buying an alarm clock. Who the frick needs those any more. I have this saying that goes “a fad doesn’t end until the last sheep dies.” meaning people who either live life stuck in an era or people who tend to not care for the current trends. Mainstream changes way to often...so often that most people can not benefit entirely from the current trend. everyone feeds into pop cultural if you don't...go blow you're brains out...it's all a matter of sub cultures and time frames. no one is as unique they assume. sorry, blog rant.
So how are these ‘new’ mediums changing our perceptions of understanding? Well it is similar to how a reader will interpret different writers from different periods or different modes and styles of writing of writing. Generally, if a person perceives something it means they are catching something others do not commonly grasp, so the importance to understand how new tools function and knowing the cultural impact they have is necessary. Without the tools there would be no reason or importance to understand them because they wouldn’t exist making no impact on society. The more we know about the specifics then the more attentive to detail we can be…However, how has perception changed? In essence it hasn’t because ‘perception’ is a word that is represented by a definition which has been ingrain into an existing language. The only changes are the stuff being presented and the ways which are taught to understand the material being used to create that stuff. An example would be if shown something brand new (unheard of , never before seen, a complete product of imagination) and are asked to explain what it is there are two ways this could be answered: 1) individual interpretation. Which explains nothing factual and it's complete utter bullshit because it is a single opinion. 2) being honest by saying: “I have no clue what I am looking at! What is it and how is it made and how does it work?” only then will a person begin to understand  the concepts of the ’thing’ and will then be abel to recognize ‘things’ that share similarities.
Finally, how is this practice a way of making rather than form of representing? Simply because there are fewer references  or none at all. It will present an artistic expression through means that are currently unavailable to most of society or incapable of functioning because they do not exist yet.

it's the final countdown...wickitkashaw.

  •  I want to explore by creating something very abstract, making it have it own essence; it's own beauty. Something like what Ducker argued in her essay; see Ducker post. I am going to use one secondary medium: a short scene from Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein for the opening of my piece: the scene is called "give my creation...life!" which I feel fits my animation idea well because my imagination will be brought to life by creating a foundation for my idea which in turn will be brought to 'life' through my artwork in flash. I want to explore what any artist should explore: themselves. I want to bring my art to life...myself to life through art. artist need to mutate, shift,  and explore their experiences and imagination. There are only two things we control in our lives: our art and how we perform self pleasure (and the line is thin even between these). I'll need criticism from people, but generally the input or interpretation I receive may not be taken unless I ask specifically how to do something...not because I think your input won't help or believed it to be useless...it's because simply it is not your art to create. I want to learn about my self and be able to express myself....see the trend with "my"; we learn how to utilize mediums to create artwork, if we can not understand the medium then we seek help to learn. I'll learn by asking, but mostly by experimenting with the medium.

2am day before...yeah I fucked my self + my group because MY IDEAS ARE TOO DAMN COOL...but goes to show the limitations of a computer...I like pencils.

here is this fucking mess of a project finally done in purely flash b/c nothing else worked and I stayed up this damn late b/c I care about a damn grade so much and I didn't want to let the group member burn with me....ALL our sweet ideas ruined at each weeks end. this is what you get....love and enjoy the fuck out of it because I did. geeeeekgrrwhockawhockanumblenumbleAAAOOOOGAAAAOOGAFUCK!

short reflection: nothing is persuasive if there are two or more opposing sides to an argument. contradiction occurs between speakers and the audience falls on a "liking" of a single speaker because that speaker reflects their personal ideals and opinions (meaning no persuasion or change of idea, attitude, or opinion about a topic occurs).

Our project represented the side of HEMP and the side of MARIJUANA (weed, bud, etc. whatever you want to call it, comrade). both which are illegal under the same law (which prohibits the growth and sale of hemp and marijuana plants on U.S. soil).  This may have been unclear, so I hope this provides more justification.
