Block talks a lot about file structure, file mixing, data bases, and computer systems which goes explains nothing to me; however, this idea no different from the concept of film theory or the interaction film art to the spectator or reality except that it is possible to substitute words for characters.
Frankly, the medium does not change the conception of any word; there is an impossibility of changing the true meaning of a word (in definition). However, hypertext can be modified by structure and visual display; this can give words a representational form which expands or changes the perception that those words manifest. "hypertext or hypermedial projects add dynamics to a test in a variety of ways, or bring together images and/or sound and text to form an "integrated audio-visual even". This enables the writer to show his work as a visual presentation which incorporates textual writing, rather than expressing thought through text and interpretation of the reader. The artwork becomes part of a reality for the audience because it occurs; it happens in a time and place. Language, the way we use and read it, will change over time and we will have to adapt to the new forms in order to understand the medium. So how is what we can write and read on or with computers different from other communication media? Well digital animated words can shift, move or transform for the reader, automatically or on command, presenting it as an individual form of artwork. A spectator can become emotionally evolved through the presentation instead of reading or interpreting an emotion through a body of text; the spectator no longer needs to use his personal imagination to picture the text--this medium provides visual action much like a film. When a person reads they emerge themselves into the text creating a world based from the idea and perceptions that are built by imagination; when a person experiences visuals-moving images- they infuse the visual into their sense of reality, the experience becomes 'real' in some time and space. the spectator sees a visual presentation and the text being created or sees a visual presentation of the text while hearing the words.
As Block sates “one problem arising from the tension between simplicity and complexity are the prerequisites demands for working on computer and net art.“ Computer and net artist must learn how to develop the tools needed or discovery and learn how existing tools work so that it is possible to create such art. I agree that there are many limits to the style of writing due to the lack of hard and soft ware available and that the writers will needs to learn programming and computer language to dominate in the style of writing; they may even need to develop skills and tools to accomplish computer art. Block quotes Winograd, who said, “the computer is not a writing machine, it is writing.” I agree that a computer can be utilized to create the developments needed to change the ideal notions of writing…however, a computer is also a tool used for writing it can be used to produce text at its basic level.
New mediums are being created by artist (forms of computer or net art created by IT or Programmers, software engineers) for other artist to use as a tool to create forms of art which use these mediums. The definition of art forms are blending in the technological sense; creating art mediums can be classified by it's own non-expressive form of artistry and must be separated from the forms of expressive artwork that are created by use of those tools.

ehh, umm, ahh...
I would really like to write a poem, animate it or incorporate animations into the video. However, I find that may be difficult to accomplish in the amount of time given. currently my mind is sending out blank signals. I can write about something and express it through an animation easy, but to tell you what I am going to write and how I am going to animate is impossible if I can not create the topic before beginning the first draft. I can generalize it may be humorous, it may be depressing, it could be about either love, death, art, relationships, current news, or simply a combination of all...I can't comprehend the idea of explaining the direction I am going to take my work which I cannot even begin to create until a ten hour timer begins....I suppose just be ready for the unexpected.

My Theme is Green (with black resin)
The conversation piece we'll be working on will consist of pros of marijuana use and production in the United States. We will discuss reasons to support the marijuana laws with an economical, medical or recreational point of view. The conversation will be enlightening and provide a lot of information about the topic. Our conversation will blend, or overlap, ideas to show the connection between the POV's.
I do not wish to change your opinion on the topic or to advocate the use of marijuana...it's all personal choice. Drugs are not meant for everyone, nor should be used by everyone.
be wise-don't do meth kids.
The positions in our conversations are not designated to the individual speaker, but to the topics the speakers are talking about (marijuana and hemp) although each speaker talk about both topics the general direction of the conversation is to convince the reader that either marijuana should be legalized; hemp should be legalized; or both. Marijuana and hemp are completely different products with one major difference: the quantity of THC. There is not enough of the active chemical drug THC in hemp to allow a person to get high....compare it to non alcoholic beer; there are still small amounts of alcohol in non alcoholic beers (up to .5% by volume) so you'd have to drink an inconsiderable large amount of alcohol to become intoxicated. Similar to gettting high off hemp, you'd have to smoke an ungodly amount to become intoxicated. In addition hemp is usually not sold in the form marijuana is sold. Marijuana or what marijuana users smoke to get high are the flower buds of the plant, where hemp includes the use stalk and leaves of the plant.
So yeah both speakers are going to be preaching for legalization of all species of cannabis (Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis) because it is ridiculous the all forms of the plant are illegal and the Gov't waste billions of dollars to destroy a 'drug' when they are actually destroying only a harmless plant.

anti novel or bizarro literature...
I am either going to research Bizarro literature or the anti novel because the break conventions of reality and standard literature form. I am unsure if I am going to pick a writer from one of these movements or discuss the general nature of the movement as of yet. I would like to read some of the material from authors in the either genre before making a final decision. I will need to read some of the text by various authors in order to complete the assignment and begin to write my paper...I already have a general interest in the genre of text; however, never dug deep into the readings. I will need to understand the reading maybe even dabble in some short story writing myself to get a feel for the style. I'll need lots of rest and time to prepare for the paper and the reading...I can always find time, but will that time produce a quality paper, yes, could I do better, always. I will need help locating anti novel writers and works, someone could go as far as typing my essay as I ramble into their ears, but highly unlikely to occur. I will only be needing any suggestions of text which will provide insight of the genre: either scholarly or story-plot based.
I will begin most likely this weekend by either burrowing a few examples of both text from the library or purchasing books online or via bookstore. After reading some of the material I will find out which genre I would prefer to occupy my time with, then go from there digging into either essays or article about the text and more literature by authors of those genres. a week before the written portion of the assignment is due I will begin to formulate a paper from my research and notes. save.edit.save.print.turn in.receive a graded paper back.have some sort of emotional feeling about the grade. be okay with it. recycle.

IAMA GREEN, yipyipyipyipyipyiypyipyipyipyip
This is Green: FIXED!!!
GREEN: this one works, but the spiral part is not working...I'll try to revise again.
I was surprised that most everyone commented or suggested that I should combined the two animations; I never intended to do so...I actually just made "this is green" for fun. Although both animations represent the same idea (the meaning of the color green) use the same words I guess I felt as if enough was going on in each animation and the thought of combining them gives me the feeling of overloading the viewer. However, I have some free time I may try to combined the two animations to see the visual effect.
If I had more time I would have liked to get the timing and color combination down in "this is green" so the animation would have the illusion of turning the color green. I was able to accomplish the color illusion with 3 frames but the additional frames prevented a problem. If I had more time I would have also liked to age a colored background to "green" that combined the colors blue and yellow....which is what prompt me to create a second animation in order to dabble with the idea.
I need to learn to take time in developing my ideas, maybe even download or order the program for my personal computer. I find it hard to only work on these assignments during class hours + on campus. However, money is tight so practically SOL for now. I suppose what I would need to learn to advance my animated writing skills would be any information available and then take what I can remember to apply it to a project. Also how to use video backgrounds, how to had images or cliparts, or even how to watermark or how to use text/image transparency in the flash program. my artistic drawing/painting skills match that of a fifth grader on crack near a wall with a crayon and balloons filled with paint. I prefer to use words that tell a story and could apply to a visual reproduction...I have some ideas that I plan on using for this class or projects I would like to try after college.

Bet'r l8 > nvr
I agree this reading was tough, but here is my take:
Drucker's main claims are:
1. Typographic experimental writing expresses cross-disciplinary approaches to representational form of artistic practices. an artist should be able to apply multiple forms of art into a work that is easily understood by its audiences
2. Relationships between form and expression; and between matter and content need to exist on equal stature
the artwork should provide a clear understanding without any in-depth interpretation: The art work needs to present it self individually as a whole image that has no interpretation of the real world
3. Artistic forms are to be and not to represent exactly what this states an object is that object, not re-represent the object(idea, etc) to give it hidden or interpretive meanings. It's an image of it's own making
4. Absolute purity of poetry will come from spatial and manipulation of poetic text breaking the standard structure of poetic structure will allow the text to explain in correspondence to the placement of the text the page
5. The interpretation of the effects of spatial and manipulation of the text remains resistant to any closure and the complexity adds material means to its own language mentioned above #4
6. Poetry must reject the habitual patterns of ordinary speech, and must embody essences that are emotion, sexual, and universal in nature and be presented in a visual form which reinforces the effect of their verbal qualities The new structure of text which would be used in a poem will be present or convey the readers in a desired direction
7. Features must demand a recognition that uses a figural visual mode
8. radical anti-grammatical effects the language arranged to make a form independent of the conventional structure if the writer is no longer using conventional styles of writing than the use of grammar in the text are useless
9. Ordered visual and verbal manifestations that creates a claim, rather than to serve to represent an already extent idea, form, thought, or thing.the way the text would organize and create or establish a claim without explanation, the value will be taken as is.
10. The self conscious attention to the role of (verbal) the letter, the sound, the word, the sentence, the phrase and form; (visual) the color, the line, the form, the mass, the surface, the plane, composition, and spatial illusion or lack thereof the use of these roles within a text will let the audience be attentive to the use of space and text used
11. New emphasis on the focus of the materiality through which meaning an content are constructed the focus of the audience will construct the meaning, a clear and pure meaning.
12. Role of materiality is the revelation of representation of its truth Since the text and space are to be take at face value, it would be taken as truth.
13. Visual representations would be consider the truths in themselves rather than the mere naming them and pointing to them the representation will create a meaning on its own without pointing it out or telling
14. The image is not a substitute ; it does not stand fro anything than itself re-read this.
15. The relation between attention to the formal elements and properties of language articulate a motivation to produce either truth, meaning or effect in no case would signification be ignored an example....
"you and I today are not like
what we were yesterday " this should infer that two people have grown apart from each other since they were younger. The spacing and placement of the text should apply to the illusion of the meaning, giving content to both the visual and verbal aspects of poem. also notice the use of punctuation is not needed. I think this form of "new art" is hard to apply to literature well out without raising an eyebrow like "what the fuck?"
16. Terms of formality are literary; poetry must be self-conscious in defining itself: through direct treatment/minimal use of adjectives/a quality of hardness/individuality of rhythm/the use of exact words
17.the problematic relation with language which accompanies the development of a visual and making claims for its formal purity and visual autonomy
18. typographic work embodied and manifested a complex attitude toward the materiality of visual and verbal aspects of signification and continual interplay of reading and seeing social context and historical production with evidence in its materiality.
I think this reading has set some idea of what non-conventional forms of writing, at least for me, clearly. However, I doubt I completely got it, but fuck it I'll admit that poetry and writing are suppose to be rebellious...in form and context. what ever the artwork, it was created to express...writing does not have to appeal to the mass public, the appreciation may only come from it's creator. I am beginning to realize that there are fewer ways to express an existing meaning or idea verbally, but if distorting and displacement of the conventional structure may provide a new outlet. As artist we have control over our art, we can present it in any form we desire and feel comfortable. dig'it?

Dunning was Cunning and Woods was Deep.
Colin Dunning poems Cluster for Eugen Gomeringer and Icon for Kazimir Malevich are accrediting the style of art used by the two artist named in the titles of his poem. The use of the words Cluster, Constellation and Concentration and Idol, Block, and Block describes a certain technique used by the named artist. The poem must be broken down to explain: the definition of ‘cluster’ is a gathering of the same or similar elements and this can be represented by the number of letters (13) used to spell each word and the same beginning/ending of the words. ‘Constellation’ is a set or configuration of related units and ‘Concentration’ is the amount of one specific substance that exist among another unit of substance. It should be clear that the two words share similar elements and how the words are written shows the reader how the words can exist among each other. Eugen Gomeringer was a German poet that used ‘concrete poetry’ which was a technique that arranged words with the intent to convey the effect of the conventional elements of words, rhythm, and rhyme. If the reader applies the same idea to the second half of the poem they will discover the same effect with the painting style of abstract artist Kazimir Malevich; and his painting of the ‘Black Square’. The words Idol, Black, and Block may refer to the Black Bloc protest, but I am unsure of that connection. However, the reader can assume the mass of words are a solid substance that absorbs its surroundings with out reflection. The letters are again converging into each other into one substance, but are divided by the one letter unique difference.
Dunning probably chose to use a non-traditional structure to convey an appreciation to two role models and also give an example of ‘new’ or simple form kind of concrete style writing art form. I think what I will try to take out of this reading maybe to study some of my favorite writers so I can merge styles.
Alan Woods, like Dunning, uses a simple switch of words to convey a meaning into his poem. I wrote a earlier post about this Woods poem, so feel free to check that out for information about the poems context. Although I am unsure if Woods is paying tribute to other artist, the general concept of arranging words in a way to convey a contextual meaning into his poem structure. Both authors use the substitution of letters to define different meaning to the words shown on the screen and how the relate to each other within in the context of the work. The works are very similar in style and I would like to try and use word meanings to convey an entire concept. The idea is simple, but probably incredibly difficult; since it has to contain so much relate-able information within a small amount of text and correct placement.
