finished just before work was over...yay

The article laid out the history of writing and language, especially the development of poetry throughout history, extremely well.  The development of early writing and language was used to help aid in the memorization of the forms; rhythmic versus and mnemonic techniques are examples of the aid provided. However, in a Post-Literary era, writing and language must neither function as a collective memory of stored information nor by a singular projected voice, but rather through a medium. A medium is defined as a received intake of language from outside the language and culture itself; the means to transport and convey between ideologies, and use material and technical for the process of art.  Experimental ways of writings makes language and writing interactive, rather than an aid for memory.  The digital age has brought new technologies for ways to memorize or capture literature and language.  Today the need to use transcriptive writing as a tool to reproduce literary works and to store information is falling due to the textualization of writing were the memory is put into the text or the image.  There are more possibilities to transform the way of writing and expressionism in unheard of ways, rather than limit our potential to the past.  However, even the potential creates limitations to how we use the new forms of text; like the printing press limited errors in grammar and spelling Hypertext could limit the ability to see the text properly without certain tools of technology.
In my own work, I would like to use other forms of media that will give a better effect to my writing. I don’t think my writing will try to challenge any structure, but the image juxtaposing will reinforce the words meanings.  I’ll have to create whatever feels right at the time…maybe something awesome and new will be created, maybe not.

  1. I like how you hedge your bets in your last sentence, Steven.

It's unclear to me in your first paragraph where your thoughts start and your take on Bernstein ends. And that makes me very curious about your take on memory. WHY must writing no longer function as memory in a post-literary era?

  2. Memory,
It's like we don't connect anymore. I try to remember the good times we're shared together, but they seem faded. I hope soon we can experience something life changing soon. I miss you, buddy.

    regards,
    me from tomorrow...

most likely not what you were asking me to answer, but memory plays a little role in my life. I can remember almost any vague representation of any one or thing. However, with language, culture has shifted the concept of developing language skills because a person develops language almost naturally in a post literary world depending on social status, regional (nationality), and level of education. language is ingrained into human genetics so it has become something natural to people; communication is natural. formal language has been develop, language is actually 'receding-more informal.

So memory is not the main priority in today's culture. Our culture develops on the meaning of words, the expressionism ingrained within text, new ways to express emotions, developing a secondary language that abbreviates formal language, and almost an illusion. today's cultures rely on visual and emotional connections. we are using language in a way that further develops our ability to communicate, but rather our cognitive understanding.

obviously it's passed bar time and I am not completely coherent.
