I began experimenting with lyrics and poetry in seventh grade. Most of the themes boiled down to relationships; love; hate; death; and religious mockery--you know the typical "emo" style of self expressive. My writing was handed into the school guidance more than once due to the number of teachers who were concerned with my well-being. However, I was a pretty happy kid; normal, independent, and self-motivated. Growing up, I felt that writing about these topics, or using these themes (such as love, hate, and death) provided a large quantity of material to discuss through personal expression. I can admit that I had my fair share of broken hearts and secret crashes to motivate the feeling through those words, but I applied most of my poems to multiple girls. I was a cheap romantic.
Recently, I have switched to comedic writing about love, hate, religion, personal characteristics, history, pop culture, and current issues; basically anything. I would like to consider my personality as an "out side of the box" kind of creative thinker, but my ability to completely follow through with any project seems difficult these days. So sometimes I find myself nostalgically flowing my pen across a scarp of paper about some love-sick moment about a girl, beautiful enough to die for (a moment on the inside). In general and in accordance with this course, I hope to develop some cool animated things or at least have the opportunity to appreciate the works of art from other students.
until next class, y'all keep well.
